Lord Jim Balch was chief of the Dungeness (later Jamestown) band of the S'Klallam tribe. He was son of Jim Balch (Tuls-met-tum), who signed the 1855 Point No Point Treaty. In 1874 Lord Jim Balch led a group of Clallam Indians to purchase approximately 222 acres of land near Dungeness, Washington, which they subdivided to individual families. The settlement was later named Jamestown in honor of Lord Jim.[1][3]
