Facts and Events
The surname is shown variously as Irvin, Ervin, Irving and Ervine. According to a query on Nicholas Co. Kentucky mailing list, Jetson was the son of William and Susanna Erwin. {Nicholas Co. Kentucky mailing list archives, 21 June 2002, Jeannie Dalrymple, <www.rootsweb.com>} According to various sources, Jetson and Mary had at least 9 children: Robert 1827- (m. Martha Ann Bohannon); Louisa ~1828 (m. John R. Blount); Mahala 1825-1864 (m. Elias Blake); Amanda 1829- (m. William K. Fuller); William Granville 1833-1928 (m. Rebecca Susan Myers); Nancy 1834-1900 (m. Michael J. Myers); George W. 1835- (m. Sarah Smart); Jeremiah 1840-1864; and John Holmes 1841- . However, according to his death record, George W. Irvin was the son of of George Irvine and Jane Burns. I think it possible that John Holmes was a grandson or nephew.
