Estella Graham bought bought lot 1 & 2 in Block 2, Range $, June 1888 from Sam Whitcomb. This went to Jessie Green in 1905. Jessie Green also bought lot 6, 7 and 8 in the same block Aug. 11, 1898 from Susan Mabbett. and Jessie Green sold lot 1 & 2 to George Meabon. In Sept. 1921, Jessie Green bought lot 7 & 8 of Block 3, Range 4, Oct. 1902 from George W Brown. She sold it Aug. 1949 to Lucius Doyle.

Miss Jessie Green was on the Registration Committee for the Centennial celebration in 1935.

Obituary


In the death of Jessie Nevada Green at her home her Saturday probably the teacher with the longest service record in any school in the county passed away. She started teaching the primary department in 1893 and taught there 46 years, retiring on account of ill health in 1939. At the time she began teaching she was not a high school graduate but took high school work and graduated in 1898. Then she attended summer schools at the Ypsilanti Normal and after many years received a life certificate. In the M.J. Reason family she taught three generations - M.J. Reason, his son Gerald, and his granddaughter Shirley. In 1939 she was honored at the Pinckney high school alumni reunion.

A member of the Methodist church, she sang in the choir for many years. She afterwards transferred to Community Congregational. She was a life member of Pinckney Chapter O.E.S. ... was born in Howel July 2, 1868, coming to Pinckney when very young where her father was in the sheet metal business.

The funeral was held from the Swartout Funeral Home Monday afternoon, Reverend McLucas officiating, with burial in Pinckney Cemetery.

In honor of her long service, the Pinckney school closed at noon.
