In researching WILSON ancestors of Hickman,Dickson,Perry,Humphrey counties (which all meet near Duck River and Buffaloe River at Lowe's Bend) I have found an affidavit from Jesse Lowe about his service in War of 1812 with Wiley (Willie) Ritchie WILSON: "State of MS, Lafayette Co, April 20, 1872 Personally appeared before me R.W.Black, clerk & commissioner fo the Chancery Court of said county and state, Jesse Lowe who being duly sworn states as follows to wit: I am acquainted with Wiley R. Wilson who recently removed from LaFayette county MS to Los Angeles California. He was a member of Capt. Thomas Porters company in the Second (2nd) Regiment of Tennessee Cavalry during the War of 1812 and served as a private during said war of 1812. He enlisted as a private at Vernon in Hickman county Tennessee, and he was in "the Battle of New Orleans". Wiley R Wilson served during the entire war of 1812 in the same company to which I myself belonged to wit: Thomas Porter's Company. second Regiment Tennessee Cavalry. General Coffey's Brigade. Lowe (not sure why L vs J) Executor: A.J. Lowe Dated: February 23, 1878 --------------------------------- Hickman County Obituaries Col. Jesse Lowe, died June 1877 in Mississippi, son of John Lowe, who died many years ago. Mrs. Jenny Lowe is widow of Col Jesse, who lived on Whitson Place on Duck River below Town. John Lowe died here. (Hickman Pioneer, 17 Sept. 1886) ---- I am trying to determine if Jenny Lowe is Jenny Wilson Lowe and kin to our WILSON line. Wiley Wilson married Elizabeth Curry of Hickman Co in 1825. They died near Downey City, Los Angeles Co, Ca. They moved there in 1871 from Oxford MS to live near his brother Benjamin Davis Wilson of San Gabriel/Pasadena later/ California.
