Hi Diane, I thought you may be interested in this old picture I found of Jesse C. Hertsell ... I believe that the young man with him is his only son Jesse E. Hertsell ... When I enhanced the photo on my computer I found that the lettering on the side of the wagon appears to say HomeDairy ...That must have been the business Jesse C. was in for a while anyway ... Hi Diane .. I have located Jesse C. Hertsel and Mathilda Hertsel's graves . They are in Old Adamsboro Indiana at the Miami Baptist Cemetery . I think I have figured out the who the Jennie bird is in the Cass County History Book .. It was a typo . Her headstone states her name as Mathilda J. Hertsel .I believe her middle name was Jennifer and perhaps her nickname was Jennie .After all it would be easier and more attractive to call out the name Jennie than Mathilda . In the same cemetery there are numerous Burge sites . The 1870 Census shows her family was in Sullivan County Pennsylvania and she had 9 siblings she was 10 years old at the time .A couple of those sibling also lay in the same grave yard as Mathilda in Old Adamsboro . so . her birth name is Mathilda J. Burge and the author of the history page wrote Jennie Bird . I believe he used her nickname and simply misunderstood what her maiden name was . BTW .Thanks for the picture . have a great weekend .
