Did he have a wife before Frances? He was only 21 when he married Frances, so this doesn't seem likely unless the first marriage was brief. -----------There appears to be a different Rev. J. E. Harris, Presbyterian, of the Cincinnati Presbytery, maybe in New Paris, Milford, and Monterey, Ohio, circa 1910-1922. Do not confuse the two men.===============Johnson and Bibb counties, Georgia are right in the middle of the state. They are not adjacent to each other, but near to each other with Twiggs and Johnson counties between them. Macon county is south of Bibb county with Peach county between them. So, IF Jesse was born in Georgia, it was probably in mid-Georgia, maybe in Johnson, Bibb, Twiggs, Macon, or Peach county.==============According to 1910 and 1920 censuses his father was born in KY and his mother was born in KY or NC. J. E. Harris's birthplace is reported to be GA, KY, or NC, so there is some kind of connection to these states, but the exact connection is unclear.

Harris Name Meaning English and Welsh (very common in southern England and South Wales): patronymic from the medieval English personal name Harry, pet form of Henry. This name is also well established in Ireland, taken there principally during the Plantation of Ulster. In some cases, particularly in families coming from County Mayo, both Harris and Harrison can be Anglicized forms of Gaelic Ó hEarchadha. Greek: reduced form of the Greek personal name Kharalambos, composed of the elements khara ‘joy’ + lambein ‘to shine’. Jewish: Americanized form of any of various like-sounding Jewish names.
