Jesse George
He entered the service of the United States as a volunteer in the Virginia militia about the 1st day of September, 1778, in the company commanded by Capt. James Radikin, in the regiment commanded by Col. Thomas Cavins, and in a short time marched from Leesburg, in Louden Co., Va. to Pittsburg, Pa., where he remained for a few days and then proceeded, by water, to Wheeling W. Va., thence to Shepherd's Fort, where he remained until about the 1st of March, 1779, and then returned home to Loudon Co., Va., and was discharged. In the month of July, 1780, he again joined the militia as a private in Capt. Wm. George's company, Col. Thomas Merriweather's regiment, and served about two months.
