OBITUARY: An obituary in an unsourced paper states - TAPS SOUNDED FOR VETERAN Jesse Cramer, 95, Dies at Dayton Early Friday Morning Jesse Cramer, 95 aged Civil War veteran, passed away early Friday morning at the Dayton Soldiers' Home, following an illness for the past year with the infirmities of old age. Mr. Cramer had been a resident of the Dayton home for the past eight years. For the twenty-nine years preceding that, he resided at the Marion soldiers' Home. Mr. Cramer was a native of York county, Pennsylvania, he was born in that county November 10,, 1832, the son of Laurence and Anna Cramer. When a young man he came to Indiana and settled in Wabash county. By trade he was a carpenter. He was united in marriage in 1860 to Martha Martin, at Wabash. Mrs. Cramer preceded her husband in death fifty-one years ago. In 1891, Mr. Cramer went to the Marion Soldiers' Home to live and made that pace his home until eight years ago, when he was removed to Dayton. Mr. Cramer enlisted in the Union army in 1864 and served until the end of the war. He enlisted from Wabash county and was a member of the Marion Post of the G.A.R. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Cramer, four of them whom survive. Those surviving are: Mrs. William Leonard, 519 west Perkins street this city; Mrs. Lora Cox, Santa Monica, California.; Stella Hood, Connersville, and Rose Pashong, Marion, O. Six grandchildren and three great grand children survive. Mr. Cramer was a member of the Methodist church and the Odd Fellow lodge. The funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Leonard, in west Perkins street, with Rev. L. G. Jacobs in charge. Burial will take place in the local I.O. O.F. cemetery.
