At close of Civil War, farm at extreme NE corner of Stone County, MS,frail wife, son Joe and 4 younger daughters. Black mare named Dart, sorrel mule named Nance. Land had become overgrown with weeds during the war, plowing and seeding was needed. Joe caught a sickness that lingered, so for the next 60 days he spent all daylight hours plowing and having his meals brought to him.
