Syracuse Herald-Journal, 28 Aug 1984: SHALLOW-WATER DIVE PROVES FATAL An Oneida County man whose body was pulled from Oneida Lake died of a fractured skull, according to an autopsy performed Monday by Oneida County Coroner Kevin Barry. Jerry Collins, 42, of North Bay, was pronounced dead at Rome City Hospital Sunday night after he dove from a boat into shallow water. Collins apparently jumped from a cabin cruiser on the lake to cool off. Other people on board apparently did not notice that Collins was missing for several minutes, Jackson said.
