Jerry L. Bottorff, 71, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at John Knox Village, Lee's Summit, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6th at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Village Hospice, 400 NW Murray Road, Lee's Summit, MO 64081.
Jerry was born May 23, 1941 in Columbus, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and Wilma (Ragain) Bottorff. He was a firefighter in Coral Gables, Florida for 27 years, where he also served as Chief & Fire Marshall. Jerry also worked in the electrical department at Home Depot for over 16 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling & fishing.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
His survivors include his wife, Helen Bottorff of the home; five sons: Michael & Suzie Bottorff of Knoxville, TN, Jerry A. & Christie Bottorff of Tampa, FL, Larry Van Zandt of Blue Springs, MO, Jerry & Renee Van Zandt of Grain Valley, & Jimmy & Sarah Van Zandt of Grain Valley; eleven grandchildren: Maribeth, Clay, David & Elizabeth Bottorff, Courtney, Alex, Jacob, Peyton, Kristin, Garrett & Matthew Van Zandt; one great grandson, Michael Birchfield; one brother, Gene & Tommie Bottorff of Columbus, KS; and his beloved dog, Jackson.
He was a great PaPa, good friend, wonderful person, and was loved by all.
