Mr. Heindl was born April 18, 1919, in Okobojo, S.D., and was raised in Scappoose. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in the South Pacific. After the war, he moved to Portland and was a wholesale plumbing sales clerk for Crane Co., Peerless Pacific and Erickson Supply before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the church. In 1946, he married Albina Vopalensky.
