EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. - Jerry J. "Jerry Joe" Sullivan, 48, 5150 Dunn Road, East Dubuque, formerly of Hanover, died of an apparent heart attack at 5:34 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, Menominee, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, 1185 Route 35 North, East Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m., and members of the Galena Elks Lodge 882 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Sullivan was formerly employed at the former Tri-State Bank and Today's Bank, now known as Mercantile Bank. He was born on March 28, 1950, in Savanna, son of Bert and Audrey (Crane) Sullivan. He married Virginia Saam on Sept. 23, 1978, at St. John the Evangelist Church, Hanover. He was a member of Nativity BVM Parish; Knights of Columbus Council 696, of Galena; Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 882, of Galena; and the East Dubuque Lions Club. He and his father were the founders and owners of Storybrook Country Club in Hanover. He also was a member of the Dubuque Men's Association and a past member of the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department and the National Ski Patrol, having served at Chestnut Mountain Resort and Sundown Mountain. He was a past emergency medical technician with the Galena Area Ambulance Service. He was a 1968 graduate of Hanover High School and attended Notre Dame University. He loved golf and was an avid Notre Dame fan. Jerry enjoyed performing in drama and music. He loved his family very much. Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Saam) Sullivan; two daughters, Colleen Audrey Sullivan and Maureen Ann Sullivan; a son, Jeremiah Paul Sullivan; two sisters, Luanne Sullivan (and her friend, Art Pieper), of Hanover, and Jacqueline (Jerry) Crawford, of Dubuque; a brother, Thomas (Gerri) Sullivan, of Omaha, Neb.; and many adoring nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Jerry J. "Jerry Joe" Sullivan Memorial Fund has been established.
