    ... Jeremiah Riddle, the founder of the Union County family, was the son of Gabriel Riddle, who was born in Loudoun County, Va. His mother was Elizabeth Herindon, who was born in Loudoun County, Va., in 1765. Jeremiah married Polly, daughter of Captain Frank Berry, of Revolutionary fame. She was born in Loudoun County, Va., in 1795, and died in her seventy-seventh year. Mr. Riddle came to Union County in 1802, and settled on land owned by Gen. Morgan. His house was erected near the spring in Morganfield, and his field was afterwards selected as the site of Morganfield, in 1811.
