Facts and Events
The first wife of Jeremiah 6 Purdy (1761-1842) was Lydia Thompson not Laura. They were married 23 Sept 1782. They were from the Pine Plains / Amenia NY area (Dutchess County) and moved to Sherburne, Chenango County NY about 1795 with a number of relatives. Jeremiah has been linked by DNA to Francis 1 Purdy of Fairfield CT, and was born 1761 in Rye, NY. His father died when he was a child and his mother Elizabeth (Peck) Purdy remarried to John Denton in 1769, who lived in Amenia. The Dentons were from Greenwich CT.
