Jeremiah Perley, s/o John Perley and Mary Howlett, b. 1677, d. June 1758, m. (1) 16 Apr 1702 Ruth Foster, m. (2) 20 Dec 1710 Alice Hazen, m. (3) Newbury 10 Nov 1741 Sarah (Poor) (Spofford) Hale. No children. Will dated 8 Oct 1756, proved 26 Jun 1758, mentions Sarah Black wife of Daniel Black [from other sources (History of Boxford, p. 78) Sarah (Symonds) Black was daughter of Alice Hazen's sister Hannah], decease of my second wife Alice, Hannah (Perley) Pritchard, Abigail (Perley) Spofford [Per p. 66 and 70, these were daughters of his nephew Amos Perley and Margaret Cogswell]. Executors Daniel Black and Paul Pritchard. His Bible has the following entry: "Capt. Jeremiah Perley died 16 June, 1758, betw. 3 and 4 o'clock in the afternoon."

  2.   Source:Pierce, Frederick Clifton. Foster Genealogy, p. 124, in its coverage on Jeremiah's first wife Ruth (Foster) Perley, simplistically assumed Sarah Black, Abigail Spofford, and Hannah Pritchard (mentioned in the will) were children of Jeremiah Perley, "but by which wife or wives is uncertain". Clearly this is wrong, as even cursory research on them quickly shows.
