    Jeremiah Parrish, a soldier of the American Revolution, is buried here. Born Feb. 17, 1765, at Canterbury, Ct., he served as a private in Conn. Continentals under Col. Willis. He enlisted at Canterbury in June 1780 for 3 months as a private under Capt. James Dana, Conn. Troops. Again on May 7, 1783 until Sept. 20, 1783 he served as private under Capt. Benjamin Durkee, Conn. Troops. He married Thankful Abbot in 1788 and died July 16, 1851 at Portville.
