Estate Settled 1859 Yancey Co, NC: Upon his death, Jeremiah's daughter, Suka, was placed in charge of his estate. She, in turn, sold the homeplace & land to Rev. James W. Ayers of Yancey Co, NC.[2]

INTERMENT: Upper Pig Pen, Manassa Bailey Farm,Yancey Co. NC.Two headstones in the cemetery read, J H on it and the other one T H . Genealogist Stokes Bailey believes this to be Jermiah Hughes, and his wife "Two Horse". Two Horse was a Sioux Indian from Oklahoma according to N.C Archive records concerning a "Will" dispute with William Hughes. It is believed by family members Jeremiah Hughes helped in the Cherokee removal from NC to Oklahoma. Sioux family members came to NC to visit "Two Horse" on several occasions. Jermiah Hughes kept "Two Horse" restrained for a certain lenght of time as he was afraid she would run away. After the birth of two children he allowed her total freedom.
