Jeffrey MCBRIDE, younger son of Kenneth and Helen MCBRIDE, was born December 10, 1948, in Davenport, IA. Although his family lived in Rock Island, the family doctor practiced in Davenport, hence his birth in Iowa. He served in the Air Force 18 months in Viet Nam. In 1980 he worked for American Air Filter and lived in 1517-39th St., Rock Island. He and a partner operated an auto salvage yard in Aledo, IL, that sells car and truck parts to auto repair shops; the yard has about 1000 vehicles. Jeffrey liked to fish and boat. He lived in Andalusia, IL, for 14 years; he had never married. He lived less than one block from my sister-in-law, Janet Hixson Dailing, and her husband, Bill Dailing. I made a short visit with him in April 2003. On Superbowl Sunday of 2004, Jeffrey was watching the game at his favorite bar in Andalusia when he collapsed with a heart attack. Although he was given immediate CPR, he did not revive. His brother, Mike, commented that Jeffrey “lived hard”. He was cremated and his ashed were buried in the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery.
