    JEDEDIAH LANE, ESQ., from Killingworth, Conn., was among the first permanent settlers, among the first six freemen registered, one of the first elected selectmen, and first town representative. He died in 1818, aged 77.

    Jedediah Lane, fifth child of Capt. John Lane and Experience Edgarton, was b. at Killingorth, Conn., July 20, 1741, m. at the second Church of Killingworth, June 11, 1764 to Phebe Stevens who was b. Sept. 1, 1743 and d. Jan 1, 1821, being buried at Jericho Center, Vt. He moved to Jericho, Vt about 1786 from Salisbury, Conn., moving the family and goods on a sled with an oxteam, and d. June 20, 1818 when on a visit to his old home in Conn. where he is buried. [more on parents and descendants available]
