- XIX. James Sinclair of Roslin, was a great loyalist, and suffered many hardships on account of his attachment to the interest of the royal family, whereby he greatly incumbered his estate.
- He married Jean, daughter of Sir Henry Spotswood, sheriff of Dublin, by whom he had many children.
- 1. Alexander, his heir.
- 2. Thomas, who married Elisabeth, daughter of captain Wauchope, a brother of Niddery, by whom he had two sons, 1. James, who had a company in the French service, married a daughter of commissioner Wedderburn, and had issue. 2. Francis, who is a general officer, and has the command of two battalions in the Neapolitan service: This Thomas had also two daughters, the eldest whereof was married to _____ Bower of Methie and Kincaldrum, and was mother of the present Alexander Bower of Kincaldrum.
- James had a daughter, Helen, who married to Henry Ker of Graden, Esq;
- He was succeeded by his eldest son, Alexander Sinclair, XX.

1st married, to George Hay, Esquire [a younger son of John Hay of Barra] who became Lord Register of Scotland. This couple produced issue: John Hay, Jean Hay, Richard Augustine Hay [Father Hay, born 1661], George Hay, and Marie Hay. 2nd married, to James Sinclair
