This research is by Janice N. Thurmond of Marrietta, GA On William Byrd's list of 1701 is found "Merchant Suillie, his wife and two children and one negro woman below ye creek". It seems they may have come on the forth ship but the list is not clear on this point. (The Douglas Register, p 371). On another list, 1700 or 1701, Jean Soulie was listed with a wife and three children. His family consisted of a son and two daughters. This list designated the nationalities of the refugees, the Souillie family being French. (Hugenot Emigration to Virginia, p. 32) Jean Souillie was registered on the first tithable list in 1710. This was his only appearance as a tithable and his death was confirmed by the inclusion of his widow on the Liste Generalle in 1714 with her two daughters, Nicholas was old enought at that time to be listed alone. (Hugenot Emigration to Virginia, p. 76). References
