In the 1851 census, John Wilson is 24 years of age and is listed as a agricultural laborer. His wife Jane is age 23 and is shown as being born in Springfield, Cupar Parish, Fifeshire, Scotland. In the September 1871 census, John (44 years)and Jane/Jean (44 years) were living in the cotter houses in Cuplawhills. At this time the farm was owned by Henry Stewart of the St Fort Estate in Forgan Parish. Andrew Hain was the tenant farmer there. By March 31, 1901, in Kingsbarns, Station House, Jean, mother of John (now age 45), is living with him, his wife, Elizabeth and their daughter Elizabeth (age 18). Station House was about a mile west of the village, and the track was closed in the 1950's. Jane will die in thehome of her daughter, at Holmlea Cottage on Arthur Street, on December 13, 1901 (Sheddons) at age 74 years of age. Her death certificate was registered on December 30, 1901, in Cathcart, Refrewshire, Scotland.
On the death certificate of Jean Murdoch , it shows that she was born in 1827 in Springfield, Parish of Cupar, Fifeshire, Scotland. She died of a cerebral hemmorage in Homelea Cottage, Sheddens, South Glasgow. Her father is listed as Thomas Todd Murdoch (b. 1805) and Jane Honeyman (1805-1887). Jean (nee Murdock) Wilson's grandparents are James Murdoch and Helen Tullis.
