Jean-Baptiste LANDRY, born 1690, son of Jean & Cécile MELANSON of Pisiguit, married to Marguerite GAUTEROT, daughter of Claude & Marie TERRIOT. Jean Baptist [sic] LANDRY, son of Jean & Cecille MELANCON, married on 16 Sep 1711 [sic] to Marguerite GOTROT, daughter of Claude & Marie TERRIOT. Recorded (SGA-1, 53). !RESIDENCE: Charles Samson, "Our Acadian Heritage:" Jean-Baptiste's name is included on the Oath Petition, signed Decemeber 23, 1729, and the Oath of Allegiance, signed by over 600 Acadians from the Mines, Coquebid, Pisiguit and Beaubassin villiages, in April 1730." (Chapter 2, Acadian Biography: The Landry Ancestors) Jean-Baptiste emigrated to Cape Breton on August 15, 1751 at the age of 62. Three sons, Jean-Baptiste, Joseph and Alexis accompanied him, as well as 15 of his grandchildren. References
