His parents died in Saint-Domingue. It is not clear if he was in Saint-Domingue before going to LA. Listed among the Acadians in New Orleans in 1767. He was joined there by Joseph, Marie, Pierre and Simon Dupuis. An extant document shows that he rec'd his quota of rations from the govt. for July 1767. Identified by Iberville Dist. officials as a local farmer with surplus corn during the 1770 colonial grain shortage. The list shows he had 10 barrels of unshucked corn. He was shown on the muster rolls of 1783 of the Iberville Dist. Militia as a fusilier on active duty. He appears to have settled in the Attakapas/Oppelousa area by 1784. Joining with other residents of Iberville Dist., they petitioned Govt. Miro in 1778 to enforce the requirements governing levees and drainage.
