Jean Burdette Lefever Nov. 23, 1915-June 3, 2005 Jean Burdette Lefever, 89, died on Friday, June 3, 2005 at Kit Carson Nursing Center in Jackson. Mrs Lefever was born on Nov. 23, 1915 to Leo and Ethel Cassell in Merced. She graduated from Burlingame High School and latter graduated from the College of the Pacific, now the University of the Pacific. Jean worked for 15 years as a teacher at Pioneer Elementary School and Jackson Elementary School, retiring in 1971. She managed the Amador Motel in Jackson for seven years from 1978 to 1985. She was the first president of the Jackson Elementary PTA in 1947 and the first nutrition council president for the Amador Senior Service Organization. She was also a charter member and first secretary of the University Women's Association and charter member and active in the Jackson Rebecca Loge No. 50 She is by her husband of 67 years, Fred V. Lefever or Jackson; children, Marjorie Stampfl and her husband, Larry, of Jackson, Vern Lefever and his wife, Mary, of Carmel, Michele Barros and her husband, Larry, of Stockton; brother, Vernon Cassell and his wife Vi of Placerville; sister, Donna Sears of Los Banos; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. |
