   In the death of Jasper N Smith the community loses a good citizen a nd the

family a kind, loving husband and father.

   Mr. Smith was born December 11, 1848, and died at his home Friday , De cember

6, 1901. He was 52 years, 11 months and 25 days old. For many years he suf fered more or less from dropsy, but since May last he has been confined to his h ome and most of the time to his invalid chair.

   In early life he embraced the Christian faith and united with the Chri stian

Church at Quinshan and remained faithful until death. On April 29, 187 5, he was united in marriage with Louesa Klotz. To them were born six sons, four a re left with the mother and aged grandparents to mourn their loss. Jasper Smith was one of the five sons of Daniel Smith, who is well and fav orably known as "Uncle Dan," who has arrived at the mature age of 87 years and li ved to bury all his boys, Jasper being the last. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Slig er of Red Lands, CA, and Mrs. C A Fast, of Bairdstown OH.

   The funeral occurred from the Quinshan church last Sunday, conduct ed by Rev.

Melvin L Pedan. Interment in the Quinshan cemetery.
