From: Mary Ellis <> Subject: [BRICKCHURCHNC] Albright Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2006 05:19:04 -0400 THE BURLINGTON, N. C., DAILY TIMES-NEWS, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 1932. GOLDEN WEDDING DINNER GIVEN MR. AND MRS. J. M. ALBRIGHT ON THANKSGIVING Mrs. J. L. Kernodle and Mrs. L. E. Shaw entertained at Mrs. Kernodle's country home Thanksgiving, honoring Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Albright whose golden wedding anniversary was November 23. Three large open fires were burning and cast a golden glow over the rooms which were beautifully decorated with fall flowers and floor baskets of evergreens gathered from the woods. Covers were laid for 18 and a sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner was served. The table was lovely in a golden color scheme. A large brass bowl filled with small yellow chrysanthemums was used for the centerpiece. On either side of the centerpiece was a beautiful anniversary cake. One was in white and pink. On the top of the cake was the figure 50, and underneath this was a golden coin which was given by Mrs. C. R. Case. Another especially pretty cake was done in golden icing with doves, orange blossoms and little golden bells. This cake was made of ice cream and when cut it was found that it had pink and white layers. This cake was given by Mrs. Joseph Moag and Mrs. James Murphy, of Raleigh. Other beautiful cakes, too numerous to mention, were given. One very unusual guest was the mother of the golden wedding bride, Mrs. Tempie Albright, age 94. She enjoyed the day as much as anyone present. Seated by her at the table was a great great grandson, Hendrick Albright. The honor guests, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Albright seem young. Both enjoy good health and enjoy their friends. They like to go places and are not the kind to sit at home and grow old. They are never thought of as being old. Many lovely gifts were given them on this occasion. Those invited to enjoy this lovely occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Carr, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Shaw and son, of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. Cad Albright, of Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Adams, of Greensboro, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Case. of Oak Ridge, Mr. and Mrs. Ed McPherson, Rev. and Mrs. D. I. Offman, Mr. and Mrs. Earle Patterson, Mrs. Temple Albright and Miss Mary McLeod. |
