    The Chiles Chapel was filled to overflowing with the loved ones and friends of the late Jarrett Medlin who had come to pay a tribute to his memory at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Walter Goodman officiated at the last rites. Mrs. Lois DeMaire and Paul Boles sang two duets, Rock of Ages and Beyond the Sunset. The singers were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Dimple Haddock. The casket bearers, all grandsons of the deceased, were True Medlin, Jr., Herbert Medlin, Jr., Irwin Miller, Charles Miller, Don Johnston and Leo Foster. Following the service in the chapel, the remains were escorted to Lake Cemetery where all that was moral of the loved figure was consigned to the all embracing earth.

    J. L. Medlin, 82, died at the Memorial Hospital at 9:50 a.m. Sunday. The 82 year old man was taken from his home in Lamar to the hospital last Tuesday. Although he had suffered several years from a heart ailment, he had retained a remarkably robust appearance and was able to be about and enjoy life until a week prior to the end.

    Jarrett Lewis Medlin was born April 27, 1873 in Moniteau County, the son of Thomas Green Medlin and Nancy Rector Medlin. He was married to Georgia Gload at Moniteau on January 19, 1893 in Moniteau County. He and his wife came to Barton County in 1908, settling on a farm in the vicinity of Milford. The wife died on June 21, 1919. On October 19, 1922, he was married to Florence Bower of Golden City. He leaves her widowed, four sons by the first marriage, Herbert Medlin of Pittsburg; Clyde, True and Claude, all of Lamar; and one son by the second marriage, Bob Medlin, also of Lamar; and three stepchildren, Finis Bower of Lamar, Kenneth Bower of Chicago and Mrs. Inez Special of Chicago. All survive.

    The deceased was a fine looking man even in his declining years. Genial and pleasant, he will be missed among his neighbors and friends.
