Obituary

Janice Mae Carlisle May 12, 1924 — April 10, 2013 Janice Mae Carlisle, age 88 of New Philadelphia, died peacefully while in the care of Community Hospice House following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Earl and Cora Belle (Thomas) Wassem, Janice was born at Dover, Ohio on May 12, 1924.

Janice attended New Philadelphia High School and married James J. Carlisle on May 1, 1948. She enjoyed caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren as well as knitting and walking.

In addition to her husband of nearly 65 years, Janice is survived by two children, Sandra J. “Joey” (companion, Jim Kromenacker )Hanchette of Dover and Jim (wife, Deb) Carlisle of New Philadelphia; a sister, Earline Hoy of Columbus and three grandchildren, Richard E. “Rich” (wife, Tracey) Hanchette, III of Cleveland, Ben (wife, Andrea) Carlisle of Norton and Courtney Carlisle of New Philadelphia.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Wassem and Dean Wassem.

A graveside service celebrating Janice’s life will be led by William Hibbs on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover.
