Janice Y. (Laughner) Brown, age 85, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023. She was born in Oil City on May 21, 1938, daughter of the late Judd and Mary (Aljoe) Laughner.
Jan was a 1956 graduate of Wesleyville High School. She had previously worked at General Electric and retired from the Iroquois School District after more than 20 years. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Brown on July 12, 1958. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in July.
For many years, Jan enjoyed spending time with family at their cottage on Gay Road in North East. She loved going to garage sales and the casino. Most of all, Jan cherished the time spent with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Bill, Jan is survived by daughter, Becky Deiner; sons: Tom (Mary Ann) and Jim, all of Erie; and son, Steve (Michelle) of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Philip and Kevin Deiner, Rachael Hart (Robbie), Courtney Fagley (Mark), Libby Deiner, Erik and Joe Brown, and Gabrielle and Sophia Brown; one great-grandchild, Noah Hart; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Laughner; sisters: Barbara Bobango, Rhea Rick, and Nancy Ropelewski.
