James Buchanan of Blairvadock (1776-1860), who acquired Ardinconnal from his father in 1811, and sold it in 1817 to James Colquhon of Luss, married 1805 Lady Janet Sinclair, daughter of Earl of Caithness (Buchanan Book, by A. Buchanan, 1911). James Buchanan was involved in the West India firm G. and R. Dennistoun (Minute book of the Board of Green Cloth).
