Research notes:

Samuel's Revolutionary War pension record lists Jane Paxton as his widow.

There is an 1825 marriage record for Samuel Paxton and Jane Smiley.

According to "The Paxtons," after the death of his first wife, Sarah Coalter, Samuel, age 70, married 30-year-old Jane Smiley, sister of his son Samuel's wife Susan Smiley.

However, the 1830 census record for Samuel Paxton shows a household of four free white persons headed by a male and female over 69; also a female 10-14 and a female 20-29. This is obviously inconsistent with Samuel's marriage to a 30-year-old woman five years earlier, so perhaps Jane was considerably older.
