- ↑ "Mrs. Ella (Shuff) Gear-86, up 14 Webster Street, widow of Joseph H.Gear, died at 7:30 AM today, May 3, 1957 in Mercy hospital after havingbeen seriously ill for the last month and in declining health for tenyears. Mrs. Gear was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, October 6, 1870, toDaniel and Catherine (Weller) Shuff and was married in Tiffin, April 19,1903, to Mr. Gear, who died December 1953. The deceased was formerly amember of the First Christian church here. She had resided in thecommunity for 25 years, moving here from Bascom. Surviving are a son,Lester E. Gear of Cleveland; two brothers, Daniel E. Shuff of Clevelandand Michael T. Shuff of Providence, RI. Four sisters, Mrs. Adda King,Mrs. Minnie Werhle, Mrs. Mary Margret Angus, and Mrs. Cora Mae Shuff aredeceased. Funeral services will be held in the Turner funeral home at 1PM, Monday and will be conducted by the Rev. H. Joe Grimm, pastor of theEbenezer EUB church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends maycall at the funeral home after 7 PM Saturday."
