- ↑ Although Jane's birth, as recorded in Source:Vital records of Phillipston, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849, gives no indication of having taken place in Truro, and despite her birth not being listed in the Truro records, she undoubtedly was born there. This is shown by compiling all the records of her parents, which strongly suggest they did not remove to Phillipston (Gerry), MA, until after her father's second marriage to Hannah Atkins in 1782. Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 14:93, Records from the Old North Cemetery, Truro, Mass. lists the gravestone of his first wife, Jane's mother, "Rich, Jane, wife of Thatcher, died 24 September, 1778, in her 37th years. [On stone with unnamed infant.]". Source:Vital records of the town of Truro, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849, p. 130, lists "1782 January 13 thatcher rich and hannah atkins borth of truro married." The surviving older children have births listed in both locations. This makes it pretty obvious that the births in Truro were repeated to the Phillipston town clerk after they moved there, even though they had occurred in Truro.
