Some sources claim that Jane Mitchell's name was "America Jane Mitchell", but there do not seem to be any sources to prove this. It may have been a nickname added to her by some descendants.

Will of Thomas Mitchell - will dated 5 November 1771 is found in Chalkey, Volume 3, Page 123. He leaves to his wife Jane (Mitchell) to have the disposal of all the household furniture to her three daughters, Elinor, Mary, Isbel. To oldest son David the plantation he lives on, to son Samuel the plantation at the head waters of Rockfish, to son John the plantation he lives on, to son Robert the tract that his father formerly lived on in Rockfish. The executors are his wife Jane, his son David, his son in law William Brown, brother in law John Finley and John Tate to advise.

Samuel Doak Sr. was born about 1700 in Antrim Co., Ulster Provence, N. IRL. He immigrated in 1740. He died before 19 May 1772 in Augusta Co., VA. He will was proven on 19 May 1772 in Augusta Co., VA.

He was married to America Jane Mitchell (daughter of Thomas Mitchell and Eleanor (?)) about 1740 in Chester Co., PA. America Jane Mitchell was born about 1711 in N. IRL. She immigrated in 1740. She died after 1772 in Augusta Co., VA.

Jane's father MAY possibly be Thomas Mitchell, but not proven, need further research.

Jane Mitchell, possible sister to Adam & Robert Mitchell, married Samuel Doak Ireland/Penn- sylvania? Migrated from Pennsylvania to Augusta Co., Virginia. Samuel Doak Jr. born 01 August 1749. A Presbyterian Minister. married, 1776, Esther Houston Montgomery. Children:

Jane Mitchell (1715) married Samuel Doak, Sr. and moved to Augusta County, Virginia, settling in southwest part of the Beverly Grant near present-day Greenville, and Old Providence Presbyterian Church. Also near the Houston Family in the neighboring Borden Grant.  Their sons David, John, and Robert  served in Capt. James Tate's Augusta County Militia at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse.  Their son Rev. Samuel Doak, Jr, (1749-1830) attended New Jersey College, now called Princeton University, graduating in 1775.  He was a good friend of College President John Witherspoon, and taught there for a while.  He was ordained a Presbyterian minister in 1777 and moved to the Holston River area of eastern Tennessee.  A friend of John Sevier, Rev.
