Facts and Events
1834 - Possible baptism: Ann Jane, daughter of John LONG and Elizabeth. 1841 - With parents at Paul Street, Liverpool, Lancashire. Aged 7, born in the county. 1851 - With parents at 33? School Lane, Liverpool (St George), Lancashire. Dressmaker, aged 17, born in Liverpool, Lancashire. 1900 - On Jane's death certificate, her married name is given as "Jane DOREIAN". Cause of death was recorded as Senile debility, Heart failure (7 months) and the death informant was E. A. Long, daughter, 14 Gordon St, Richmond. It states that she was born in Liverpool and married in Liverpool at age 16. It also says that she had spent 6 years in New Zealand and 30 years in Victoria. This indicates that she may have left England around 1864 at age 28, been in New Zealand from about 1864 to 1870, and then come to Australia. Her children are listed as William 46, John 44, Eliza Ann 41, Edward dead, Charles dead, James Thomas 35, Joseph 34 and Thomas 29. It seems that Thomas is the only one born in Australia. Thus it would seem that Charles, Edward, William, John and Elizabeth were all born in England, probably in Liverpool, while James and Joseph were born in New Zealand and Thomas in Australia.
