born say 1610 living 1631 when named in her fahter's will; living 1636 if she was the wife of John Alderman but deceased before 1655 when her childless brother John made no bequest to her but did to all his other siblings. Likely married John Alderman (1684-1657) of Salem. John Alderman's will makes a number of interesting bequests to Nicholas Clapp's grandchildren. They had no children of their own. Charles Henry Pope in Pioneers of Massachusetts (GPC reprint 1981) p 368 proposed she married John Pope but evidence for this has not been seen!

The following two sentences from The Great Migration indicate that all of the following where children of Nicholas Clapp: "A second group of Clap siblings... came to New England: NICHOLAS CLAP {1637, Dorchester}, THOMAS CLAP {1638, Weymouth}; John Clap, who was in New England by the 1640s; Prudence Clap, wife of our Edward; Barbara Clap, wife of JOSEPH WELD {1635, Roxbury}; and Radigon Clap, who remarried John Capen, son of BERNARD CAPEN {1633, Dorchester} Joseph Neal Anc 88-89; Scott Gen 227-30; Stevens-Miller Anc 1:278). Another sister, Jane Clap, was almost certainly wife of JOHN ALDERMAN {1634, Dorchester} {GM 2: 1:20-23}."

John Alderman Origins: Unknown; Migration 1634 on the Recovery; First Residence Dorchester, Removes to Salem 1636; Marriage to Jane (quite possibly Jane Clapp daughter of Nicholas Clapp see associations discusses will, etc. He was probably related in some way to Israel Mason, The Pickerings [John Pickering and Elizabeth ___'s two sons were named in his will] and the Buffums [who were Quakers]).
