It is not proven that Jane was born to Mahala and Isaac. It is possible and quite probable that Jane was born before they married or the marriage date is incorrect.

In all the years of research of marriage records and details on the Callahan family including quite a bit of text about Isaac's infamous deeds, Carolyne Davison has never seen reference to a first marriage for Isaac. She was considered to be a Callahan by her family and was mentioned in several of the articles Carolyn has read as Isaac's daughter.

Mahala had a son named Davis Wilson before she married Isaac. This son, age unknown to me, lived in Owsley Co. KY with the Wilsons.
