Immigration

No actual immigration record has been found for Jan Claesen and his family. The date is calculated from the 1687 Oath of Allegiance that was taken by his son, Stoffel Janszen. At that time Stoffel said that he had lived in the province for 34 which would make 1653 the year of his arrival in the colony. Since Stoffel is known to have been still underage in 1666, he had to have been a young child in 1653 and presumably was brought by his parents at that time.
