Researcher Sharon Jebavy believes this to be the James who is the son of Robert and Agness Young. However, researcher Robert Frey believes Robert Sr.'s son James is the one married Mary McCombe and died in 1790 instead.

The 150 acres land he received from his father in Beverley Manor, SC, in 1755, he sold to Mathias Gabert in 1769. James' mother, Agness, released her dower of the land which adjoined brothers Samuel and Robert's land. In 1771, while in SC, Robert sold his parcel of land adjoining brother James' land to Mathias Gabert. (CL-468)
