About James Weeks
James Weeks of Rockbridge County, Virginia was born between 1781-1790 according to the 1830 Census and is listed in the 1820 & 1830 Census living in that County. He appears to have had two marriages; a first marriage to Catherine Hogg on 13 November 1817 in Rockbridge County [Virginia Marriages 1740-1850 & 1785-1940]. Virginia Marriage Records show James Weeks married second to Mary "Polly" Hodge prior to 1835, so several of the children born earlier are likely from the prior marriage assuming it was the same James Weeks that married both Catherine Hogg and Polly Hodge. [Note that there does not seem to be evidence that there were two James Weeks of the same approximate age in the area during that time].
James Weeks and also likely his wife must have died sometime prior to the 1850 Census [and perhaps prior to the 1840 Census as there does not appear to be any Weeks family members listed in either the Augusta or Rockbridge County 1840 Census records], as there are several children listed with a Catharine Weeks [age 28] in nearby Augusta County with what is assumed several of her younger siblings, [which are all assumed to be children of this James Weeks, (including a proven son Elisha Weeks)]:
