James Walker was reportedly a Scottish doctor who arrived in Maryland with his brother George (also a doctor).

22 Nov 1748 Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Gough of Ann Arundel County, Gentleman, for and in consideration that James Walker of the same County, Surgeon hath become bound with & in the penal Sum of Eighty pounds Sterling for the payment of forty pounds Sterling with Lawful Interest on the 22 November in the Year of Our Lord 1749 to Edmund Jennings Esq. as also for and in Consideration of the Sum of five shillings to me in hand paid have granted bargained and sold unto the said James Walker one Negro Boy called Jonathan, twelve Head of Cattle and three horses and it is with the true intent and meaning of these Presents that if the said Thomas Gough do well and truly pay the said Edmund Jennings the aforesaid Sum of Forty Pounds according to the tenor of the aforesaid Bond the above will be harmless (and void) otherwilse will remain in full forece Power and Virtue. 25 May 1757 Jacob Holland of Ann Arundel County, Province of Maryland of the one part and James Walker of the same County ... for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds current money to him in hand paid Hath given granted Bargained and confirmed unto him the said James Walker all that Tract or Parcel of Land called and known by the name of Bucks Contrivance containing by Estimation 117 acres being on the South side of Patapsco River on or near the head of of a Branch called Kittens Branch. The Walkers were also among the early residents of St. Thomas' parish, and trace their origin in Maryland to Drs. James and George Walker, both of whom at first settled in Anne Anindel County, where they practiced their profession. James "lived on the hill ocroes the | Patapsco, south from Fort McHenry," while George after a time settled at Chatsworth, and was appointed one of the commissioners to lay off '> Baltimore Town, with which his fortunes were thenceforth connected until his death hi 1744. Dr. James Walker was born at Peterhead, Scotland, lit 1705, and died in 1769. On the 26th of March, 1731, he married Susannah, daughter of John Gardner, of Patapasco, by whom he had ten children,— Mary, born June 16,1732, died Nov. 3, 1773; John, born Feb. 20, 1734, died Feb. 12, 1794; George, born April :i, 1736, died young; Susannah, bum Feb. 0, 1738, died July 13, 1787; James, born July 29, 1740, died March, 1810; Margaret, born July 19, 1742, died Sept. 23, 1801; Charles*, born Not. 9, 1744, died Nov. 15,1825; Agnes born July 25,1746; Mary, born Nov. 22, 1748, died Oct. 25, 1824; i rine, born Feb. 16,1754, died Dec. 19, 1787.
