My Dear Cousin Edmund,

                                            In answer to your very kind letter of the 18th June last, which I received in due course, I send you a few scratches, hoping both yourself and your sister are in full enjoyment of perfect health as this leaves us. Thank the Lord for his mercies to us all.

                             Whether poor uncle James is yet alive I cannot say as my brother Simon has not said anything about him or his family lately. They were all settled in or about  Alliance Station Stark County Ohio.U.S. in 1862 which I think I told you of in my former correspondents. I hope they are well. Aunt Sarah Toogood and her husband and family are still a chrys(?) morehand(?) and I believe well. They were all a nice joyful family. I was at their house with uncle Robert Vincent on Christmas Eve 1861 and have seen nothing of them since but I believe cousin Sarah Jane and her husband Western are living somewhere here in London. I must go west and see them all again bye and bye..
