James Veysey's origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 25th June 1776, when he was married at Thelbridge in Devon to a Mildred Veysey. They appear to have had six children together, who were baptised at the nearby villages of Witheridge and Rackenford. They have yet to be traced after the baptism of their sixth child in 1790.
