"Jim" Vernon, 55 of Lubbock will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at City of Lubbock Cemetery with the Rev. Bracken Christian officiating Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home of Lubbock. He died Monday, September 17, 2001. He was born May 24, 1946 in Lubbock. He graduated from high school in Lawton, Oklahoma. He moved to Lubbock Co. from California in 1986. He married Carol Broadus in January of 1991 in Lubbock. He was a self-employed carpet layer and member of the National Rifle Association and the Church of God. Survivors include his wife, two stepsons, Jason Sharkey of Lubbock and Chris Sharkey of Dallas; two sisters, Louetta Price of Valencia, California and Marzetta Alexander of Glendora, Californai, and three grandchildren. Jim lived with his parents until his father passed away, taking care of them in their old age. Carol was his father's nurse in Lubbock. After his father died and Jim married Carol his mother moved back to California with Louetta.
