Tullis

James "Jim" Clyde Tullis Jr., 81, a native of Vivian and resident of Houma, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Mass will be at noon Thursday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Fonseca Tullis of Houma; one son, Phillip James Tullis and wife, Andrena Vedros Tullis, of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Cindy Tullis Ellis Duet of Houma and Julie Tullis Head and husband, Stanley D. Head, of Carencro; nine grandchildren, Chandler S. Tullis, Cason Tullis, Kelley Keesee, Brennan Head, Justin Head and wife, Jessica, Daniel Head, Anne-Katheryn Head, Matt Ellis and Rusty Ellis; and one great-grandchild, Janna Head.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clyde Tullis Sr. and Myrtle Jewel Chandler Tullis; one brother, Francis Newell Tullis; and one sister, Lorene Tullis Elliot.

He was retired from Marathon Oil Co. with 40 years of service and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 31.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star Medal of Honor, Good Conduct Medal and served Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 614 Barrow St., Houma, LA 70360, or Hospice of South Louisiana.

He was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
