James Tullis Dec. 15, 1943 - Jan. 8, 2004 Paradise resident James R. Tullis, 60, who served in the U.S. Air Force and Navy, died Jan. 8 at Feather River Hospital. He joined the U.S. Air Force after attending high school, later serving in the Navy for nine years. Part of his time in the military was served on the Coral Sea. He was born in Richmond to parents Mary and Joe Frank Tullis, attending Roosevelt Junior High School and Richmond High School. He lived in Redding for nine years before moving to SunBridge Nursing Home in Paradise. He was baptized in the First Southern Baptist Church in Richmond in 1955, and was a member of Riverview Church in Redding. He is survived by sisters, Yvonne Orr of Klamath Falls, Ore., Emma Faye Wicker of San Jose and Gladys Morris of Paradise; brothers-in-law, Charles Wicker, Sandy Larson and Mike Morris, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by sister Vada Larson in 2003. A memorial service was held at the Paradise Ridge Southern Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Sorenson officiating. Arrangements were handled by Neptune Society of Chico, with internment to take place at San Joaquin National Cemetery.

He is survived by sisters: Yvonne Orr, Faye Wicker, and Gladys Morris: brothers-in-law: Sandy Larson, Mike Morris, Charles Wicker, Ron Orr. Sister, Vada Larson, preceded him in death in 2003. A memorial service was held at Paradise So. Baptist Church. Burial will be at San Joaquin Natl Cemetery on Feb. 20.
