James T Tatterson worked for the Gallahue family who built rafts to float their produce to market at Pittsburgh. On one of these trips James disappeared near Brownsville, Pa around 1829. It is presumed that James fell overbooard and was drowned, but his body was never recovered.

Margaret moved in with Clement Vincent around 1830 and had several additional children.
