... (224) ix James N. Tate, A. M., LL.D., b 17, Oct. 1851, Callaway county, Mo.; m 14, Aug. 1878, Mary Caroline McClelland, b 28, Sept. 1843 ; d 29, Jan. 1912, Faribault, Minn. Dr. Tate graduated from Westminster College in 1872, received the degree "A. M." in 1875, and "LL.D." in 1903. Taught in Missouri School for the Deaf, became Superintendent in 1889, resigned in 1896 and accepted the same position with the Minnesota School for the Deaf, where he has since remained. Potent member of the K. T., A. A. S. R., and Mystic Shrine ; was made a Beta Theta Phi in Westminster College. Mrs. Tate was a woman of the noblest christian character and is survived by as many friends as she had acquaintances. ...
